Instructors' Courses

  Induction Course Update Course Interim Course Development Course Stripes to 1 to 1
Who can attend? 1st Dans and above, at least 15 years of age. Open to all Instructors & Assistant Instructors. Others that are not Instructors may also be permitted to attend if space is available. This is a short course designed for those Instructors who were unable to attend an Update course in the past two years. Fully qualified Instructors and Assistant Instructors. Open 4th degree black belts and above, Instructors or non-Instructors.
Prerequisite Must be a 1st Dan and above
(plus lower grades with special permission)
Should be a current Instructor or Assistant Instructor (plus lower grades that are currently assisting or are potential Instructors may attend with special permission) Must be a current Instructor. Must be a current Instructor or Assistant Instructor who has completed both an Instructors' Induction Course and an Instructors' Update Course.

Open only to 4th degree black belts and above.
Course Content This course is designed to help get you started in instructing.

It provides tips on:
Your role as an instructor in meeting the needs of your students, being inclusive and fair, communication, teaching games for understanding, conducting a lesson and planning
This course is mainly practical with emphasis on providing technical updates and practice of the syllabus. This course is mainly practical with emphasis on providing technical updates and practice of the techniques syllabus. Will also include practical assessment of instructing skills. Instructing is both an art and a science involving the practical implementation of a range of sciences in instructing practice.

The purpose of this course is for instructors to develop the ability to use sport sciences that are important in Taekwon-Do.

Instructors will learn how to use specific skills and processes as tools to improve student performance. The course is relevant to instructors of students from the Middle Childhood community (6-8 years) through to adults. It will cater for instructors whose students train purely for participatory or social reasons, through to those who are highly motivated by competition.

The course will benefit instructors of community schools through to coaches of regional and high performance teams.

Course content will focus on preparing and maintaining students for the physical demands of training; application of nutrition principles; use of biomechanical principles to analyse skill execution; use of basic mental skills; use of anthropometry for competitive adults; use of a constraints-led approach to skill acquisition.

Content will be learned in a workshop environment, where instructors will participate in discussions and practise a variety of skills and processes. Some content will be self-learned with readings provided prior to the course.

Instructors are expected to complete an assignment at the end of the course.


This course is a mix of technical training, discussions and socialising between our senior members. It also involved brainstorming sessions and planning for the future.

How often is this qualification renewed? This course is required to be completed once only You are required to attend this course (or other qualifying course) every 2 years to ensure your Instructors' Certificate remains current. - - This course can be used to update the Instructors' Certificate (2 yearly).
Qualification/ Certification This course is a required qualification for being recognised as an Instructor or Assistant Instructor, and before an Instructor can open their own school. Instructors' Certificate remains current. An International Instructors' Course (IIC) is also accepted as an equivalent course and can be used to update the Instructors' Certificate. This course will extend your Instructors' Certificate until the next available Update Course. These courses are optional and do not have a bearing on your Instructors' Certificate Qualification. Instructors' Certificate remains current (2 yearly).

What is the cost? $45 individual, $85 family of two, $90 family of three or more.
